From Engineering the World's Biggest Platforms to Building My Own
I never planned to start a company.
For nearly a decade, I built technology that touched millions of lives — and I loved every minute of it.
At Amazon, I was the engineer behind the scenes. First on Alexa, helping build the voice assistant that would go on to live in over 100 million homes. Then on AWS, the cloud infrastructure that powers roughly a third of the internet. I didn't just write code. I solved problems at a scale most people can't fathom — the kind where a single decision ripples across millions of users in milliseconds.
Later, at Nordstrom, I learned that great products deserve great experiences — and that the best technology is the kind you don't even notice, because it just works.
The Pause That Changed Everything
When I had kids, I made a choice that most high-achievers struggle with: I stepped away — full-time, fully present. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to be there for the tiny humans who had just changed the entire meaning of my life.
What I didn't expect was what that pause would teach me.
In the quiet moments between lullabies and first steps, between sleepless nights and slow mornings, I rediscovered something I'd lost in the velocity of Big Tech: the power of calm. The small rituals — a warm cup of chai before the house wakes up, the ten minutes of stillness after the baby falls asleep, the intentional choosing of things that bring peace rather than noise.
I realized that the most important systems I'd ever build weren't in code. They were the rituals that hold a life together.
Why I Named It Ritcalm
Ritcalm is two words made one: Ritual and Calm.
It's my belief that calm isn't something you stumble into — it's something you build, one small ritual at a time. A morning routine. A product that feels like a deep breath. A moment carved out of chaos that says: this is mine.
I brought the same rigor I used to architect systems at Amazon to a deeply personal question: What if the things we buy could actually make us feel better — not just in the moment, but in the rhythm of our days?
Why This, Why Now
I know what it's like to be a high-performer who suddenly has no performance reviews, no sprint cycles, no metrics dashboard — just a baby, a new identity, and a quiet hunger to create something meaningful.
I built Ritcalm for the parents who are rebuilding their sense of self. For the professionals who want their homes to feel as thoughtfully designed as the products they build at work. For the people who are done with clutter and noise and just want things that work — beautifully, quietly, reliably.
I built Ritcalm for them. For myself. For anyone who believes that the small things aren't small at all.
The Engineer in Me
What makes Ritcalm different? It's built by someone who spent years learning that details are everything.
At Amazon, shipping a feature meant obsessing over every edge case, every failure mode, every fraction of a second of latency. I bring that same obsession to Ritcalm — to how products are sourced, how they feel in your hands, how the experience of discovering and receiving them becomes its own small ritual.
I don't just curate products. I engineer experiences.
A Note to You
I used to think my greatest achievement would be the systems I built at Amazon or the apps I shipped at Nordstrom. And I'm proud of those things — deeply proud.
But becoming a mom taught me that the most meaningful things in life aren't built at scale. They're built in the quiet moments. In the rituals we return to. In the calm we create for ourselves and the people we love.
